Production and Material Balance

Unifying plant data sources through PI System integration.

Our client in the mining industry faced a critical challenge: data related to production, material flow, and quality control was dispersed across multiple sources and formats. The lack of a unified data infrastructure limited the client’s ability to make timely, informed decisions and improve overall process efficiency.

The goal was to implement a system that could centralize all process-related data from various sources, enabling better control, visibility, and decision-making across the entire operation.

To achieve this, it was necessary to integrate diverse data inputs, including:

* PLCs from multiple plant areas

* Relational databases for inventory and operational records

* Manual data entries from operators

* Results from chemical laboratory analyses

SIOS implemented a PI System as the backbone for real-time data collection, processing, and historization. Key tools such as PI Server and PI DataLink were used to consolidate and visualize all process information in a single environment.

The Benefits:

* Unified view of operational data from multiple systems and sources

* Reliable material balance calculations across different process areas

* Improved decision-making through accurate, real-time reports

* Greater process transparency and traceability

* Foundation for advanced analytics and continuous improvement

By centralizing data into the PI System, the client gained the tools needed to optimize mining processes, reduce inefficiencies, and align operational performance with strategic goals.
